Attention for swimming safety at the beach |
- One should swim near the sea area with lifeguard. Listen to the instruction of the lifeguard and don’t swim beyond the security line.
- When swimming in the sea, don’t rely on float equipments (such as swimming donut and floating bed). It is easier to get drowned one the equipments are flat.
- Swimming in the sea is different from in the swimming pool. The floating sea generates stream and wave, thus requires more of a person’s energy to reach the same distance. Therefore, don’t overestimate your swimming ability in case of the happening of accident.
- Kids swimming alone is not allowed, in case of the happening of accident.
- Don’t swim near the waterway, the port, rapid stream zone, reef area and wharf.
- Don’t get into the water to swim two days before and after the typhoon, with big sea wave, after the closure of the beach or at night.
- Wear suntan lotion, clothes, hats and sunglasses to protect yourself from the harmful sunlight.
- When big wave occurs, don’t push it directly; instead, you should dive into the water or swim rapidly back to the beach via the force of the wave.
- If there are floating objects at the beach, don’t walk with bare feet in case of being stabbed by sharp objects.
- When in the ocean, if you are bleeding because of some cut, please go back to the beach immediately because the sharks are very sensitive with the smell of blood and might attack you. If you are attacked by jellyfish or sea snake, please go back to the beach immediately for healing.
- When the shark appears, please go back to the beach immediately.
- If there is sudden rumble sound from the remote area of the sea and the sound gets louder and louder, a tidal wave might appear. Everyone (in the sea and at the beach) should run to higher places.
- If someone gets drowned, you should shout or call 119 for the assistance of fire station. With the knowledge of water first aid, please don’t get into the water to save people in case of the happening of drowning.
- If you are dragged to outer sea by sea stream, you should employ an SOS sign to the people at the beach. Keep your energy and temperature, wait for the saving and see if there is any useful floating object around you.
- If there is earthquake near the seashore of Pacific Ocean, pay attention to the weather report to see if there is a tidal wave. Don’t go near the sea for swimming during that time.
