North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area, the establishment of which was approved by the Executive Yuan on April 17, 2002, encompasses parts of Sanzhi, Shimen, Jinshan and Wanli in North Coast (previously a provincial level land), Yehliu and Guanyinshan Area. The Scenic Area Administration is responsible for planning the development of cultural and educational tourism in the scenic area.  The scenic area covers an area of 12,351 hectares, of which the land area ranges 7,940 and sea area 4,411.
