Hengshan Terraces

The area of Hengshan Terrace Fields is one of the famous sites in Sanzhi. It used to be called Hengshankan. It is a hilly band with clear differences in elevation. Levels after levels of terraces sit upon the mountain side. Together with the road and river that cross through, the terraces resembling the geometric pattern create a fairly eye-catching scene. At different spots where you observe from, you may see different patterns. It is thus no wonder that Hengshan's terraces are the most famous of all the rice terraces of the North Coast .

Fun Facts:
Hengshan Terraces were cultivated for growing rice in the past, but the terraces were later divided for the establishment of farms for growing lucrative crops such as water bamboos and Chinese yams.
