Shitoushan Park
Shitoushan Park

Shitoushan Park is located on a cape protruding into the sea. It used to be a military stronghold guarding part of the northern coast, and therefore the environment is relatively better-preserved—besides the old barracks and fortifications that are still intact, there has been very little human development, preserving the rich geological and ecological resources that make this place a popular tourist attraction. It is only about 70 meters in height, an easy walk along the trail that is surrounded by beautiful flowers and wildlife. At the northern end of the trail, there is a red traditional pavilion, an excellent place to watch the beautiful Twin Candlestick Islets.

Fun Facts:
The Shitoushan Park was previously named “Zhongzheng Park.”  In earlier time, it was an important military base of the North Coast with various fortifications. As of today, old barracks, forts and artillery batteries can still be found near the hiking trail and the coast.
