Pre-trip reminder when visiting the North Coast
North Coast Weather and Travel Seasons

The north coast has the northernmost latitude of Taiwan proper, with an average annual temperature of about 22.3 degrees Celsius. April to June is the rainy season, while the summer is hot and there are often typhoons; winter is dominated by the strong northeast monsoon, which is relatively wet and cold. In spring, visitors can enjoy the green reef and sea of lilies, in summer, go surfing in the bay and play in the waves on the beach. In autumn, there is the International Kite Festival and the Sanzhi Water Bamboo Festival, while winter offers visitors the hot spring season. The scenery is beautiful all year round.

Observing unique terrain along the coast

When visitors come to a coastal area with reef geology on a rainy day, they should watch out for the moss on the reef which is very slippery and where possible wear non-slip shoes and walk carefully. Walking on green reefs is strictly forbidden. The wave conditions and tides are unpredictable so pay attention to the surrounding environment at all times. When the weather is bad, please do not remain in the area to avoid danger.

Playing on the beach

The summer months are hot so visitors should use sunscreen to avoid sunburn. Choose a legal operator to engage in water activities in designated areas and check the equipment before entering the water. Also ensure the operator provides visitors with liability insurance of more than NT$3 million.
In the event of an accident life-saving equipment is available nearby and should be used immediately. Do not remove sand and gravel from the beach, and please do not carve words into rocks or trees to preserve the environment.

Tips for roaming the North Coast

The Provincial Highway 2 around the island is straight. Please be careful when riding a motorbiketo avoid speeding and always wear a crash helmet. Have a pleasant trip and return home safely. Visitors should minimize garbage and take it with them when they leave, work together to reduce the use of plastic, and be as environmentally friendly as possible when visiting the North Coast.
