Experiencing the Fun of Kites and Exploring the Scenic Spots

North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications is collaborating with The Kite Promotion Association of Shimen in hosting a “Kite Experiencing” activity, including kite DIY, kite flying, and a tour of the scenic spots in Shimen. There will be two sessions, one on August 18 and the other on August 25, each offered to 30 participants for free. (Note: Because of enthusiastic participation, the registration of entry has ended.)

Shimen District is in the northernmost part of the island of Taiwan, and the terrain and weather are perfect for kite flying, especially in September and October. The annual International Kite Festival has attracted kite-lovers from all over the world.

To promote the special feature of “wind” in Shimen, this activity is held for people to experience the fun of flying kites. On August 18 and 25, the participants will gather and visit the Kite Exhibition Hall and take a good look at the collection of various kites, and will have a lesson of kite-making and –painting. They will then bring the kites they have just made to the nearby Kite Park and fly them. There, coaches will also show and teach them how to fly “stunt” kites (two or four strings). After enjoying a healthy lunch, they will have a tour of the scenic spots of Shimen District. If they have needs for rooming, meals, or souvenirs, services will be offered by the stores which have joined the “Allied Stores.”

Besides, between August 26 and October 31, regular activities of kite DIY and stunt kite-flying will be offered, fee required. Any group of two members or more may register and make a reservation.

Have you ever enjoyed the fun of kite-flying? Come to Shimen, Home of Kites, and experience the incomparable feelings. Please visit our website at: www.northguan-nsa.gov.tw
