The Most Popular New Tourist Spot of the Summer- North Coast Exploratorium
Grand Opening: May 10th

One after another exciting events have come up in the North Coast this year, and the center of the Baishawan Beach in Shimen is especially a heaven for dabblers in the summer. The North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, MOTC (hereafter called “The North Coast & Guanyinshan Area Administration, Tourism Bureau”) provides tourists with more educational experiences by establishing the “North Coast Exploratorium” next to the Baishawan Beach tourist center. North Coast Exploratorium presents visitors a combined experience of sound and light effects, and it will be inaugurated on May 10th!

In addition to dabbling and enjoying the seascape, tourists visiting the Baishawan Beach this summer are also offered the choices by the Exploratorium of experiencing the interactive games including speed boats driving, wave surfing, and bicycle riding, watching 3D films in the mini submarine cinema designed in lovely shapes, or listening to the staff introducing the geology, culture, and ecology of the North Coast and Guanyinshan. If you plan to visit the North Coast this summer, do not miss out the hottest new tourist spot of 2011-North Coast Exploratorium!

The Exploratorium offers mainly dynamic exhibitions, with the following six specially designed themes:

(1) The spectacular North Coast-a general introduction to the traffic and landscape of the jurisdiction via 3D interactive landscape models. Visitors will be able to obtain an understanding of the tourist information of the North Coast in general by operating the four computers which bring various themes to life and interacting with the models

(2) Exploration into landscape spectacles-the simulation of the Queen’s Head within the Exploratorium will certainly impress the visitors! The symbolic North Coast geology and landscape are revealed through both videos and models

(3) Great discovery of the deep ocean secrets-in this section, visitors will explore the deep ocean through the mini submarines. With facilities such as the 3D cinemas and ecology kaleidoscopes, visitors will have a wonderful time experiencing the deep sea. This is believed to be one of the sections that will make visitors spend the most time in.

(4) Knowledge jungle of the North Coast-visitors are brought back to the land when they enter the corridor with a painted starry sky. This section provides an introduction to the Guanyinshan eagles and hawks, displaying windows for visitors to observe the traces of the migrant birds as well as jigsaw puzzles and other facilities, revealing the land and sky resources of the North Coast and Guanyinshan

(5) Land, ocean and sky extreme activities-a section brimming with arcade machines, including large facilities of recreational activity experience such as surfing, cycling, and cruising virtual interactivity machines. With bean curd rocks, paragliding, hang-gliding, lighthouse, green algal reefs and other installation art, visitors are able to explore the diverse landscape and recreational activities in the North Coast.

(6) Secret zone for artists: a multifunctional section which will be open in the future for applications from or invitations to North Coast artists or craft artists for family DIY sessions. This will increase the interactions between the Exploratorium and the communities and serve as a means of performance demonstration.

The colorful Exploratorium images are another focus. According to Chuan-Wei Ju , head of the North Coast & Guanyinshan Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, the design of the Exploratorium emblem, echoing the interior features of the Exploratorium as well as the physical characteristics of the North Coast and Guanyinshan, signifies “Wonder exploration, intellectual adventure, and family tourism.” Wonder Magnifiers is furnished through which the land, ocean, and sky features of the North Coast can be captured. Through riotous and diversified color combinations as well as bright and fun hand-painted characters, making the North Coast a paradise for families to enjoy themselves together. There are several ways to enjoy the Baishawan Beach this summer, according to Ju; tourists may travel to the agricultural product fairs in Sanzhi from the Baishawan Beach through cycling on the newly paved coastal bike lane and then experience the interactive games in the Exploratorium or enjoy the warm sunshine on the beach. Tourists who prefer not to drive may consider the “North Coast One Day Trip”, a sightseeing bus trip sponsored by Kkholiday; with only NTD 399, tourists will be able to travel from Yehliu to Baishawan-a good price for value!
