Great news! A crab-mascot Lohas family biking activity will kick off June 5!

In celebration of Taiwan’s 100th birthday and the beautiful views along Sanzhi and Shimen, the “Thank you for Being Here” crab-mascot family biking activity will be held June 5 at the Baisha Bay in the North Coast.

The event is featured by “oceans, family time and a Lohas life” as organized by the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau. Participants can take a ride from 9 to 11 a.m. and join a carnival and a “challeng-taking” contest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Along with the biking activity are an open mascot fair and a tourism-promotion event. Nearly 20 restaurants and selected artists will be there to entertain participants. DIY workshops and the popular North Coast Exploratorium will also be open to all for a happy Dragon Boat Day holiday. Just visit the area with your family and enjoy your own happy smiles at the North Coast!

The 4.5km-long biking path, which starts at Datianliao, Sanzhi and ends at Baisha Bay, Shimen, was just recently completed at the end of 2010 by the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau. Visitors who take the path will be able to stay away from the Tai No. 2 National Highway traffic, but also enjoy the beaches, water plants and coral reefs at tidal flats, wind-faceted stones and coastal plantation. In fact, this biking path has quickly become the new favorite of frequent visitors here.

The Administration Office also arranged an open naming activity on the Internet. After assessment, “Feng Zhi Men Biking Path” was awarded the Brilliance Prize. In Mandarin, Feng refers to both “winds” and “crazy,” Zhi refers to Sanzhi and Men refers to Shimen. This means that people who are crazy about biking can take a ride through the winds from Sanzhi to Shimen. The Administration Office welcomes bikers to embrace the Nature together on this path.

There are many ways to enjoy Baisha Bay this summer. Visitors can ride a bicycle along the newly established coastal biking path from Baisha Bay to the Sanzhi downtown before returning to the visitor center for interactive games or to the bathing beach for more sunshine. They can also take a one-day trip that includes the North Coast Ocean Music Festival in July.

The romantic festival will feature two concerts this year: the “Night of Baisha Bay—a dialogue between orchestra and the ocean minds” on July 16 and the “Night of Chienshui Bay—swinging with sea and sound waves in the lovely summer.” On July 16, environment-aware international master musician Mathew Lien will also sing about mountains and oceans at the Baisha Bay. Audiences are expected to feel the mingled charm of music and the Nature. Famous music bands and singers will sing at the Chienshui Bay on July 23.Come to the North Coast and enjoy an unforgettable mid-summer day!
