Traffic Information for 2017 Tomb-Sweeping Festival Consecutive Holidays

There will be a four-day consecutive holiday this coming Tomb Sweeping Day. Since the North Coast Shore is only an hour away from the Taipei metropolitan area, many visitors will swarm into the North Coast Shore during the holidays after they have paid the visit to the ancestor’s tombs; consequently, the traffic jams often occur. With this in mind, the North Coast &Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Communication and Transportation urged people to take advantage of public transportation to come to these areas.

If bounding for the Guanyinshan Mountain area, visitors can take the orange bus 20, while coming to the north coast shore, the public can take the MRT to Danshui or take the train to Keelong, and transfer the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Bus or other buses to reach the scenic spots. Guoguang bus 【1815—Taipei Train Station---National Highway 1—Jinshan Youth Activity Center】, Keelong Bus 【1068—Taiwan University—National Highway 3---Jinshan】, and 【953—Banqiao—Danan District—National Highway 1--Jinshan】 are all available if your destination is Yeliu Geo Park and Jinshan Recreational Area.

Traffic information for the North Coast Shore and the Guanyinshan Mountain Scenic Spots:

1. Public Transportation:

  • If bounding for the Guanyinshan Mountain area, visitors can take the orange bus 20 at Luzhou MRT Station.
  • For reaching the coast shore, the public can take the MRT to Danshui or take the train to Keelong, and transfer the Taiwan Easy Go Trip Bus or other buses to reach the scenic spots.
  • Guoguang bus 【1815—Taipei Train Station---National Highway 1—Jinshan Youth Activity Center】, Keelong Bus 【1068—Taiwan University—National Highway 3---Jinshan】, and 【953—Banqiao—Danan District—National Highway 1--Jinshan】can be reached to get to Yeliu Geo Park and Jinshan Recreational Area.
  • To go to Keelong Hoping Island, Bus 101 can be reached in front of the Keelong Train Station. For Lover’s Lake, please take Keelong City Bus 505, 509 and get off at Lover’s Lake Entrance and walk upwards to the hill for about 30 minutes.
  • Crown North Coast Shuttle Bus:

2. Possible Traffic Jam Spots and Suggestion:

North Coast Shore and adjacent roads

A. Heading Danshui:
1. It is often congested in Hongshuilin and Zhuway area on Taiwan 2 Highway, especially on the way back to Taipei in the afternoon when visitors are heading back to town.
2. County Road 101 between Danshui and Sanzhi is often jammed because of the traffic control for Tianyuan Temple’s Cherry Blossom Season and Tomb Sweeping Crowds. Please drive with patience and follow the guideline of the police.
3. The road between Dawulun and Wanli is very curvy and it is also the only route that leads to Yeliu scenic spot. The traffic jam backup is often seen.
4. Taiwan 2 Highway A (Yangjin Highway)--If the Yangmingshan National Park does not carry out the traffic control, it is advised to take this road as alternative.
5. In Yeliu and neighboring area, owing that the roads are narrow and winding, the traffic jams often occur. Please cooperate with the traffic police and follow the guidance.

(2) Guanyinshan Mountain and adjacent roads:
1 The intersection of the county road 103 (Chenglu Bridge) and Country road 107 (Chengtai Road Section III) meet the traffic flow from Wugu Highway Interchange and vehicles from Bali and Danshui. Heavy traffic backup is often seen.
2. County Road 103(Chengtai Road Section IV)and Guandu Bridge
The main road leads to Beitou, Bali, Danshui, and the North Coast Shore and the traffic jam often occurs blocking the way to Shizitou of Wugu District and Longxing area of Bali District.

(3) Preparations and suggestions
1. Listen to the traffic information on the radio and notice the instant traffic report to stay away the congested roads. Pay attention to the weather condition updates.
2. Take away garbage to make the environment clean.
3. Manage the accommodation in advance.
4. Please check your cars before you set off, including cooling water, battery water, windshield water, oil, power steering wheel oil, break oil, tire pressure, and lights, and make sure that you drive safely. Alarming triangle signs are also helpful when in need.
5. Do not drive when you drink.

3. Reminders for caution of fire from fire- fighting unites during the Tomb Sweeping Holiday:
(1) Do not light up wild grasses when using paper money and make sure the remains of the fire are put out.
(2) Do not set off firecrackers in the cometary to avoid fire.
(3) Bring festive paper money and weeds to nearby incinerators so not to violate the regulations imposed for air pollution.
(4) Use special garbage bags when dispose grasses and wastes when sweeping tombs in the mountains.
(5) Do not litter cigarette butts during tomb sweeping, hiking or working in the woods in case of causing fire. Burning wild grasses or careless behavior inductive to fire cases will be dealt with according to relevant law regulations.
(6) Dial 119 as soon as fire occurs.

4. Scenic Spots on the North Coast Shore and The GuanyinshanMountain National Scenic Area

(1) The north coast shore:
SanzhiQianshuiwan Bay, Sanzhi Visitor Center and Hall of the Famous, ShimenBaishawan Bay, Wedding Gown Square, Fuguijiao Trail and Highhouse, Fuji Fishing Harbor, Shimen Cave, FaguBuddishm Center, Zhming Museum of Fine Arts, Shitoushan Park, Jinshan Old Street, Jinshan Hotspring Area, Yeliu Geo Park, Ocean World Park, Feicuiwan Bay, Guihou Fishing Harbor, Keelong Lover’s Lake, Huhaiwan Bay, and Hoping Island.

(2) The Guanyinshan Mountain National Scenic Area:
Trails in the woods, Lingyun Temple, Yinghan Hill, Fulong Mountain, Fengguidou Lake, Niugangling, and Niuliaopu Trails.
