Northguan National Scenic Area Conducts Life-saving Drill to Improve the Safety of Water Recreation Activities

Recently, more and more people participate in water recreation activities and that they particularly like to visit the north coast, a popular sea area in northern Taiwan in the summer. In order to enhance the safety and quality of water recreation activities on the north coast and to prevent drowning incidents, the Northguan National Scenic Area held the Annual Drill for Water Safety and Life-saving Practice at the Baisha Bay on May 19th, 2022.

Mr. Rui-an, Lin, an instructor, was invited to be a lecturer and guide for the drill. The lecture and practice items for the drill included the information such as introduction to marine environment, marine safety explanation, rescue for unpowered driven vessels and motor boats. The demonstration as to how to use life-saving equipment such as motor boats to safely rescue a drowning person was made. Moreover, sea patrol units, fire departments and civil organizations were invited to participate in the drill so as to know how to provide life-saving emergency assistance and improve relevant abilities.

The Northguan National Scenic Area has employed professionally trained lifeguards to be stationed in the Qianshui Bay, Baisha Bay, and Zhongjiao Bay throughout the year. Also, machinery such as lifeboats and jet skis and life-saving equipment are ready to be used at any time. Moreover, water safety lectures and life-saving drills are held every year. That’s why there have been zero accidents in this water area for 16 consecutive years.
