The Beautiful Ho-Ping Island of Keelong-- Photography Contest Kicks Off

--An Invitation for Exploring the Mysterious Territory at Keelong--

Ho-Ping Island is located on the northeastern side of the KeelongHarbor. In 2015, the island was for the first time included in the service zone of the North Coast &Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Bureau. Famous for its enriched landscape and artistic beauty, the island is also noted for its mysterious display of layers of light and shades. In order to promote the popularity of the Ho-Ping Island, the North Coast &Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Communication and Transportation will hold a photography contest. The contest, entitled as “The Beautiful Ho-Ping Island of Keelong”is open for entering works from today until July 10th. The 2017 Photography Contest activity organized by the North Coast &Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Bureau will select 64 pieces and will provide awards worthy of 250,000 NT dollars. With the ancient ship factories and hectic Ho-Ping Tourism Fish Market, the Ho-Ping Island is abundant with its ancient flavors together with the historic buildings that ooze the flavor of nostology and history alike. The Ho-Ping Island is also famous for its unique geographical landscapes, including ragged cliffs and ocean-carved rocks, which display wonderful beauty when the morning sun or the sunset shed lights on the seashore and the adjacent ocean. These wonderful spots are all waiting for our photographers to catch the moments of beauty in their art work.

The North Coast &Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Bureau expressed that photographers should pay attention to safety when entering unique geographic areas which contain sensitive structures. Part of the island has imposed limits for accessing and if needed, the contests can apply for admissions at the North Coast and Guanyinshan Tourism Bureau to enter these sites. The visitors are urged to be heeded of currents and tides, cliffs and falling rocks, as well as slippery paths. Natural creatures should not be disturbed nor captured.
