Summer on the North Coast is perfect not only for enjoying the sea but also for bike riding into the breeze! The Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters has launched the “2026 Fugui Cape Lighthouse Cycling Tour” series, featuring two self-guided certification activities: “Midsummer North Coast: Ride Freely in the Breeze” and “Online Monopoly Challenge.” The activities invite the public to explore the North Coast by cycling at a leisurely pace while reducing their carbon footprint. Connecting four major cycling routes—the Shuangwan Bikeway, Wanta Bikeway, Wanjin Bikeway, and Waimushan Bikeway—the activities combine fun challenges such as checking in at scenic spots, visiting participating businesses, and completing hidden missions. The combination of bays, lighthouses, fishing ports, and coastal geological landscapes will allow cyclists to immerse themselves in the North Coast’s natural scenery and local way of life.
The activities place special emphasis on the concept of riding freely, without requiring participants to complete a set distance in one outing or making speed the goal. Whether you are an experienced cyclist, a family with children, or a traveler who simply wants to ride along the coast, have a cup of coffee, and take photos, you can choose your own routes based on your schedule and fitness level and enjoy a cycling trip tailored to your needs.
The Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters noted that each of the North Coast’s four major cycling routes has its own distinctive appeal. They each connect a rich variety of natural and cultural attractions such as bays, lighthouses, fishing ports, coastal geological landscapes, and seaside cafés. Cycling thus becomes more than just a form of exercise; it is also a way to explore the North Coast in greater depth. Along the way, visitors can feel the sea breeze at Baisha Bay, admire the Fugui Cape Lighthouse, or plan stops at attractions such as Jhongjiao Bay, Yehliu, and Waimushan. Also, they can take a break and replenish their supplies at distinctive local shops, discovering different facets of the North Coast as they alternate between cycling and stopping to explore.
