MIZUNO Marathon Relay Race Held in Jin Shan and Gather Athlete Stars of Universide Reencountered

“2017 Mizuno Marathon Relay” took place today on the Dan Jin Road of the north coast shore on November 19.  More than 5000 runners braved the cold wet weather and gathered in the early morning in front of the Jin Shan Youth Activity Center.  Taiwan Mizuno CEO Mr. Zhou Hong Jin, the Dean of the Education Bureau of the New Taipei City, and the vice president of Taiwan ROC Field and Track Association, Mr. Zhai Xue Dian, announced the opening of the race by triggering the starting shots.  The Mizuno Marathon Relay has been held in Jin Shan for 13 years.

A great number of famous marathon runners took part in the race, including athlete stars that won the 2017 Universide games that had took place earlier this summer in Taipei. They all gathered today on the north coast shore running on the Dan Jin Road to compete for the medals.  In addition to this, many famous television entertainers also participated in this race, including Mr. Zhan Yu Hao, whose nickname is “the best runner of the performers in Taiwan”, Xiu Jie Kai, and Miss Chen Yi Han, adding the festival atmosphere to this running race.

In the category of University Track A, the competition has been tough.  National Physical Education University has won the race convectively for ten years; however, the athletes from National Taiwan Normal University, National Taipei City University, and Taiwan Athlete University all wanted to fight for the gold medals, consequently, increasing the competitive atmosphere in this game.  As the result, National Physical Education University successfully grabbed their 11th victory of this race.

As for the category of the University track B, National Qing Hua University won the gold medal.  Many of the athletes perform wonderfully not only in sports but also in academic researches.  The running time for the Qing Hua Team is two hours 38 minutes and 30 seconds.  National Jiao Tong University got the second place after they had obtained the gold medal for the previous two years.

In the category of high school, the first place went to Taizhong Huiwen Senior High, which also won the gold medal last year, stopping the fifth victory of San Chong Commercial High School.  One of the athletes from Hui Wen High School said he made progress by taking part in a variety of games in Taiwan and his father has been his great company in these running races.

Regarding the category of non-student runners, the system of seed runners had been established since last year.  Twenty seed members are elected to maintain the standard of the race.  This year’s game was very competitive, including famous teams of San Chong Jian Xie Group, Keelong Good Horse, and MRC ONE.  The “720 Four Kernel,” led by Mr. He Jin Ping, had won the gold medal with the record of two hours 27 minutes.
