Let the world view Taiwan through the lens of sustainability, the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters promotes sustainable tourism and operators have GTS certification

In response to the international trend of sustainable tourism, the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters actively helped businesses promote sustainable tourism in 2023. Among them, Yehliu Geopark obtained Green Travel Seal (GTS) one-star certification in 2024, becoming the second operator to receive this certification after Heping Island Geopark on the north coast.

The Green Travel Seal certification mainly provides a credible inspection mechanism for tourism industry operators to highlight their commitment to environmental protection, social responsibility, health and safety in the process of economic development, while ensuring their operating methods can be reviewed based on the certification system. The purpose is to avoid damaging the environment, preserve local characteristics, and allow the next generation to live sustainably. The Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters provides guidance to businesses by holding briefings, matching interested businesses, submitting applications for document preparation, and finally conducting on-site inspections to obtain relevant certification. The hope is to extend local tourism characteristics, further integrate as part of the global trend for sustainable tourism and promote the international sustainable image of tourism union brands. At present, two operators in the jurisdiction have obtained GTS certification. Visitors are invited to prioritize certified stores as we work together to maintain the sustainability of the global environment.
