Earlier in November, Heping Island Park, Keelung received the 2018 Svayam Accessibility Awards. On December 4, Lin You-chang, mayor of Keelung City, and Chou Yung-hui, Director General of the Tourism Bureau, MOTC, visited the park to inspect the park’s tourist designs together. The officials also touted the North Coast’s unique sea-erosion landscapes and the charming scenic spots of Keelung as a small tourist town, encouraging all visitors to explore this wonderful region.
In recent years, Taiwan’s national scenic area administrations have all devoted to building accessible tourist environs. Since Heping Island Park was included into the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area, the Administration has also attended to its accessibility while refurbishing it. From the parking lot, scenic platforms, beach area, water pool, hiking trails to toilets, each detail is set to bring more convenience to physically challenged visitors.
2019 is the “year of small-town tourism” in Taiwan. Keelung’s unique charm makes it a top choice for visitors from all over the world. To assist the Keelung City Government in developing tourism, the Tourism Bureau highlights Badouzi Train Station first as the “most beautiful station in northern Taiwan,” followed by Chaojing Park, the old pier and its colorful houses of Zhengbin Fishery Port, and Heping Park. Visitors can take “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle” to explore the North Coast and Keelung City, from the shores to mountains. The shuttle service ensures that people can enjoy tourist spots, eco-tourism, and local experiences at once. All members of the public are cordially invited to delve into Keelung, a romantic mountain town with seaside ports, plus a diversified culture.
