Jinshan Beach Sulfuric Fire Fishing & Music Festival

Local cultural and historical professionals will explain traditional fish-catching with sulfuric fire and two teams of fishermen will demonstrate the special method. A few well-known artists will enliven the port’s atmosphere with the beautiful music they play. Local specialty shop and hot spring resort owners will promote their businesses on site.

The world’s only two remaining fishermen’s teams that use sulfuric fire to catch fish will demonstrate this century-old technique to visitors, at Jinshan Beach Sulfuric Fire Fishing & Music Festival.

Yulu Old Trail

Yulu Old Trail represents the hash lives of early settlers in Jinshan, who mostly made a living on fishing. Every day, when the Sun was still yet rising, the fishermen of Jinshan went out to fish. When they returned in the evening, they headed for Dadaocheng, carrying buckets of fish on their backs. They climbed across Yangming Mountain and Shanzihou, and finally arrived in Shilin before the Sunrise. Then, they crossed a river to Dalongdong, and went to the market in Dadaocheng to sell fish. By noon, when business was over, they went back to Jinshan following the same route.
