Old Jinshan Airfield and Li Qifeng Mansion

Audio Guide

Once a Japanese military base, Old Jinshan Airport was used for testing the taking-off and landing of fighter jets. Today, the site still retains three gigantic rock wheels which the Japanese army used to flatten the ground when building this airport. The wheels are in fact the only remains of that time period.

A Minnan three-section compound dating back to more than 200 years ago, Li Chi-feng Residence is the most intact historic site of its kind in the North Coast. According to Qing Dynasty’s folk customs, no “sparrow roofs” could be used for ordinary people’s houses. This residence however features magnificent sparrow roofs, suggesting how powerful and accredited the owner was. The other roof decorations are also highly refined. Li Chi-feng Residence still has a few residents today, but as long as visitors do not disturb them, they are allowed take a look at the house outside.
