To improve its Muslim-friendly services as a way to promote Muslim tourism, the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration recently acquired the “Muslim Friendly Environment” certification for four of its visitor centers - Sanzhi, Baisha Bay, Yehliu, and Heping Island. The certification ceremony was attended by the center’s service staffs, including those from Malaysia who speak fluent Indonesian. Everyone gathered up and shared the honor.
The Administration’s director Chang Chen-chien noted that Muslims take up roughly 10% of the total overseas visitors of the North Coast. Due to the visitors’ religious beliefs, when receiving them, the service staffs should “pay extra attention and respect, and communicate carefully.” The certification indicates that the visitor centers will be able to provide services that are of higher quality. In fact, the Administration already published travel flyers in Mandarin, English, Malaysian, and Indonesian in 2018 - the first in the country to do so. The flyers are now available at the area’s visitor centers and information spots, for Muslim visitors to learn about the North Coast easily. With the acquisition of the certification, the Administration looks forward to seeing more Muslim visitors explore the North Coast.
