To welcome the arrival of the summer break, the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration organized two interesting events on July 24th: “Taiwan Biking Festival –Lighting Up Taiwan: Journey on the Northernmost Point” and “ Hiking with the Sunset on the Fugui Cape.” The activities have attracted many visitors and ended with success and praises of the participants on the beautiful North Coast Shore.
In the morning of July 24th, “Taiwan Biking Festival –Lighting Up Taiwan: Journey on the Northernmost Point” organized by the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration kicked off at eight o’clock. Around three hundred bikers participated at this event. The first group, “Casual Route,” started from the Fugui Cape and the route goes along the Linshanbi Bike Trail. The finishing point, being also the Fugui Cape, runs up the total distance of 20 kilometers. The second group, “Challenging Twin Towers from Fugui Cape to Sandiao Lighthouse,” is 90 kilometers by length. The routes are abundant of the amazing landscapes of the North Coast Shore together with the Coast of North East. The third group, called “Taiwan Extreme Four Points Biking” lasted totally for twelve days. The route paid visits to Taiwan’s four lighthouses, located on the northernmost, easternmost, westernmost, and southernmost tips of Taiwan.
“Hiking with the Sunset on the Fugui Cape” began in the afternoon on July 24th. 1500 participants gathered at the Visitor Center of the Baishawan Bay and headed towards the Wind Fine Arts Barracks on the Fugui Cape. The hikers went through scenic spots such as the Northernmost Blue Point, Wedding Gown Square, Fu Ji Fishing Harbor, and Fugui Cape Lighthouse. While hiking, the participants took out their cameras and took photos of these wonderful views of the North Coast Shore. The waves, with the ever changing lights and shades on the mountains and the sea, reflect the summer atmosphere. The white light house and the pure stylish architecture style of the Wedding Gown Square display unique flavors of the ocean. After the explanation of the guides, organized by the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, the hikers also grabbed the historical knowledge of the history of the Fugui Light House. Fugui Wind Fine Arts Barrack is the most splendid place to watch sunset on the north coast shore. As the sun was setting, the skies were filled with different hues of clouds, and the hikers were all amazed by the wonderful beauty of nature. The activities ended with a feast of fresh seafood in the nearby Fuji Fishing Harbor. All had fun to the fullest.
The hiking activity is also cooperated with Social Welfare groups, and was sponsored by the Zhenai Lion Club members who contributed registration fees and shuttle bus rental for forty some students from the New Taipei City Special Ed. School, Aboriginal Group of Danfeng Elementary School, as well as children from the Jiecai Orphanage. These children had a wonderful day hiking on the north coast shore and enjoyed the combination of the sun, the ocean, and the wind, a gift from nature to bring them freedom and happiness.
