Organized by the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters, the “2025 Fugui Cape Lighthouse Cycling Tour Around Northernmost Point of Taiwan — Lighthouse Ride: Exploring the Geology and Art of the North Coast” event took place on September 13 at the Fugui Cape Lighthouse, Taiwan’s northernmost point. Nearly 300 cycling enthusiasts from across the country gathered on the North Coast for a 22-kilometer, low-carbon coastal ride, seeing iconic attractions such as Baisha Bay, Linshan Cape, and Qianshui Bay. Along this scenic route, where mountains and sea intertwine, the cyclists created cherished memories from a fascinating journey.
Several VIPs attended the event, joining cyclists and local residents in observing the North Coast’s low-carbon tourism model. This year’s tour was particularly unique as it integrated the “Formosa North Coast Arts Festival,” transforming the route into a moving art exhibition. Riders passed by a series of driftwood art installations including “The Seed of Island II,” “The Wave and Mountain Are Our Homeland,” and “The Narrative of Reborn Driftwood” — displayed along Baisha Bay. The ride thus transcended mere exercise, evolving into a journey where nature and art merged seamlessly, offering participants layers of surprises and creative inspirations. Meanwhile, the Crown Coast Tourism Union under the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters hosted the “Slow Travel × Crown Coast Market” at Qianshui Bay in Sanzhi District. Amid the early autumn sea breeze, visitors savored local delicacies and admired handmade crafts. The market brought together well-known and local brands such as the Mufeng Leisure Farm, Pop-Smile Popcorn Tourism Factory, Heping Island GeoPark, and Yangzhu International Art Center, showcasing the North Coast’s diverse tourism appeal and rich cultural heritage while extending the excitement of the lighthouse cycling event.
The cycling tour ingeniously combined environmental awareness, landscape education, and art appreciation together, fully demonstrating the North Coast’s abundant natural and cultural resources. Following the event’s successful conclusion, the Formosa North Coast Arts Festival will continue over the coming weeks until September 28, alongside the “Self-Challenge Cycling Certification Program.” Program participants are encouraged to complete designated routes, collect stamps, or share their cycling experiences to earn special certificates and souvenirs. The Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters warmly invites travelers nationwide to revisit the North Coast to stroll along the beaches, admire art installations, or join community events in order to discover personal moments of inspirations between mountains and seas. The Headquarters also expressed its hope that through the connection between the Lighthouse Ride and the Formosa North Coast Arts Festival, the North Coast will continue to evolve into a model travel destination that embodies sustainability, cultural depth, and tourism vitality, inviting more people to explore the unique charm of Taiwan’s northernmost region with both their feet and hearts.
