Organized by the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters, the “2026 Yehliu Night Tours: See the Queen’s Head Illuminated at Night” held its opening ceremony at Yehliu Geopark on June 28. Under this year’s theme, “Tidal Gallery: Yehliu Dual Queens, Living Legacy,” the event unites art and digital technology to transform Yehliu Geopark into a nighttime landscape art gallery.
Huang Ho-ting, Deputy Director-General of the Tourism Administration, stated that the “Yehliu Night Tours: See the Queen’s Head Illuminated at Night” event is entering its eighth year. Continuing to focus on Yehliu’s distinctive geological landscape, the event transforms static rock formations into a dynamic stage. This year’s event embodies the spirit that “everyone can be a curator,” bringing together creative works by members of the public, local elementary and junior high school students and teachers, and master artists. Their works are presented as physical objects or projection mapping in the “Tidal Gallery” entrance zone, the “Starry Tide Light Realm” replica zone, the “Princess’ Studio” Cute Princess zone, and “The Queen’s Canvas” Queen’s Head zone, inviting visitors to appreciate Yehliu’s geological wonders from an artistic perspective.
The opening ceremony featured a lead performance by the Indigenous Art and Talent Class of Jin-Shan High School. Blending traditional rituals with contemporary body movements, the performance portrayed the legacy of the “Queen’s Head” and “Cute Princess” across time and space, symbolizing the continuation of nature’s vitality and cultural memory. The park recommends that visitors follow the route from the entrance zone to the replica zone, the Cute Princess zone, the “LiYing Illusion Realm” in the Liying Lake zone, and finally the Queen’s Head zone. Using light and shadow as its medium and the natural landscape as its canvas, each illuminated zone interweaves music and technology, allowing visitors to experience the creative energy of artistic co-creation across generations as they stroll through the park.
During the event, the “Twilight Market” will be held from Friday to Sunday, while multiple street performers will take the stage from Thursday to Sunday. Performances include guitar playing and singing (July 2–3 and July 9–10) as well as magic balloons and acrobatic performances (July 4–5 and July 11–12). International visitors can also redeem a limited-edition gift by presenting their admission tickets and passports.
