The 2018 theme:2018 Wild bird-watching in Guanyinshan - We love Guanyinshan!

Guanyinshan is the last mountain valley which migratory raptors stop by before returning to northern waters. The forests here are animals’ homes and they provide us with clean air to breathe, clean fresh water to drink, and stable land to live. This also make them important places for migratory birds to rest.

However, due to land exploitation, bad forest management, and people’s seeking a convenient lifestyle, we are rapidly consuming the Earth’s resources by a large volume. As a result, many forests have gradually disappeared, making survival more difficult for birds. It is said that “today, birds face a crisis. Tomorrow, humans will, too.” We must make sure that birds can survive now, so that we can also survive in the future.

For all migratory raptors and all living beings who live in the beautiful valley of Guanyinshan to thrive, this year we set the theme as “We love Guanyinshan.” Let’ cherish this place together and leave hope for future generations.

Highlights

Green Life Market|

In response to the theme of the World Earth Day on April 22 - “ending plastic pollution,” the 2018 “We Love Guanyinshan” reveals evidence of people’s excessive use of plastic, which results in plastic pollution. We have also invited “Just a Little Plastic”, a cultural and creative team which promotes reduced use of plastic in everyday life, to hold this open-air market with us. The team even proposes “zero plastic” solutions and shares their eco-friendly ideals. They invite people to pick up a “living well together” lifestyle to help to preserve forests, oceans and wetlands.

Souvenirs|

Working with “Truegrasses,” a Taiwanese cultural and creative brand, we sell tumblers and water drop-shaped mugs this year.
Both the tumblers and the mugs are made with straw and recyclable plastic, making them good examples of how agricultural waste can be used to generate additional values. The tumblers are light and they don’t easily break into pieces when fallen to the ground. They can also take liquid that’s as warm as 100 Celsius degrees. The oval mugs look like the Earth, or water drops. They remind us the importance of cherishing water resources.
