Light up Taiwan -- Extreme North Point Biking Tour Series Event Starts -- Let’s Step on the Pedals and Travel the North Coast

Taiwan is an international cycling paradise. In order to encourage people to travel at a more leisurely pace along the north coast, North Guan National Scenic Area built Shuangwan, Wanta, Wanjin and Waimushan bike routes over the past few years. Riding a bike along Taiwan Provincial Highway No. 2 next to the ocean is the best way for bikers to find their own secret paradise.

Fugui Cape Lighthouse, the northernmost point in Taiwan, is the connection point for a series of bike routes along Keelung's north coast area. The “2022 Taiwan Bike Tourism Festival Extreme Point Slow Travel - Extreme North Point Biking Tour Series Event” takes place from July to October, including an “Independent Biking Tour Certification Event,”“Volunteer Leading Biker Training, “Bike Summer Camp” “North Pole- Fugui Cape Lighthouse Ride” and other events.

Independent Biking Tour Certification Event
In this four month period, the certified “Shuangwan,” “Wanta,”“Wanjin” and “Waimushan” bike routes will be launched. Participants should register their basic information on the website to take part. After registering, go to the designated check in area and upload it to the registration website to claim an electronic independent biking certificate and a chance to take part in a lucky draw. Each person gets a maximum of 4 lucky draw chances, and participants have one extra chance to win a Giant bicycle when they collect all four bike route certificates.

Bike Summer Camp
The summer camp (tentatively scheduled for the end of August) is mainly open to students from the third grade of elementary school to the second grade of junior high school. Anyone who has experience road riding and is comfortable on a bike can sign up. The summer camp will introduce participants to bikes and cycling equipment, road safety, the use of derailleurs and brakes, cornering and maneuvering, as well as organize group rides along classic routes.

North Pole- Fugui Cape Lighthouse Ride
There are two routes available, led by the special guests, starting from the Baishawan Visitor Center. One of the routes has a total length of about 44 kilometers and passes through Shimen District, Jinshan Old Street, Wanjin Bicycle Lane, and offers supplies at the Zhongjiaowan International Surfing Base (at 26.2km). The route further extends to Fugui Cape Lighthouse and then returns to Baishawan Visitor Center. There is another route that is about 16 kilometers in length.

North Guan National Scenic Area trains professional tour leading bikers, provides leading bikers and guided tours, allows tourists to experience the North Coast through cycling and conducts volunteer leading biker training. It also plans to invite bicycle-friendly hotel operators and Northern Coast tourism circle operators to participate and help boost bicycle-friendly tour services.
