The first art event in 2023, the "Formosa North Coast Art Season" held by the Northguan National Scenic Area Administration, spanned Guanyinshan, Sanzhi, Shimen, Jinshan, Wanli, Keelung and other areas in New Taipei City. A total of 12 artists from Taiwan and overseas were invited to participate in the exhibition held in a beautiful mountain and sea landscape. Among a wide range of activities, with a rich array of parallel artist exhibitions, including photography exhibitions and artist in residence programs taking the lead.
A leading photography art exhibition was also launched at this time - "Gifts from the North Coast," in which photographer Liu Yuan-tsan, who participated in the Greater Taipei Biennale of Contemporary Art, presented two-dimensional video works inspired by the five gifts of the North Coast: strata, soil, sea, sky and air. An additional seven artists from Japan and Taiwan were also invited to reside in the village and create works from September, and the materials they used ranged from bamboo, to stone slabs, matchboards, and neon tubes. During the creation period, tourists were also able to visit, allowing the visitors to communicate with the artists and understand the process of artistic creation. The six-month landscape art exhibition is waiting for the general public to discover the beauty of North Coast art together.
