Traffic Information for 2018 New Year Holidays

 The 2018 New Year consecutive holidays will begin from December 30 2017 to January 1, 2018, totaling three days.  Many people have begun planning their trips to come to the nearby North Coast Shore and Guanyinshan Mountain area for a visit.  Since visitors may encounter serious traffic congestions in Danshui and Keelong-Wanli areas, the best way to avoid the traffic jam is to take the public transportation.

 
North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau , MOTC has suggested that the best way to visit Guanyinshan Mountain is to take the Bus Orange 20 at LuZhou MRT station. For those who would like to visit the North Coast Shore, it is advised to take the MRT to Danshui or take the train to Keelong, and then take the Taiwan Easy Go Bus or Danshui and Keelong Bus Shuttles.
 
Keelong Bus Company has added two routes via highway, including 1068 Jinshan-Highway 3-Taiwan University, and 953 Jinshan-Wanli-Highway1-DaAn District-Banqiao.  If you would like to visit several spots, it is suggested to take Taiwan Easy Go Bus shuttles—Crown North Coast Line and Dragon Palace West Coast Line.   
 
The traffic information for visiting North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area during the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays is listed in the following:
 
1.Traffic notes
 
(1) Danshui MRT and neighboring scenic spots: Danshui Old Street, Bali Left-side River Bank, Danshui Fisherman’s Warf, Shishanhang Museum of Archeology. Guanyinshan scenic spots, North Coast Shore, and Yeliu can be reached by buses.
 
(2)Traffic Jam peak hours:  The traffic jams often begin from noon.  Traffic jams peak in the afternoon when vehicles start flowing back to Taipei City in Danshui and JinlongJinshan Highway Interchange.  It is advised to set off earlier or put off your arriving and departing hours to avoid the rush hours.
 
(3) Many speed detection cameras are installed on the Taiwan highway 2.  Please follow the speed limits to keep safe.  The maximum limit is 70 km/hour and the speed limit inside the town ship is 50 km/hour.
 
(4) From Taipei City to Danshui, it is often jammed in between Guandu, Zhuwei, and Hongshulin.  Please take the MRT Danshui line to save your time.
 
(5) Alternative roads are often winding and narrow in the mountain areas.  Please drive with caution.
 
2. Public Transportation
(1)  If you would like to visit Guanyinshan Mountain, you can take the Bus Orange 20 at LuZhou MRT station. For those who would like to visit the North Coast Shore, it is advised to take the MRT to Danshui or take the train to Keelong, and then take the Taiwan Easy Go Bus or Danshui and Keelong Bus Shuttles.
 
(2) Keelong Bus Company has added two routes via highway, including 1068 Jinshan-Highway 3-Taiwan University, and 953 Jinshan-Wanli-Highway1-DaAn District-Banqiao, which go by Yeliu GEO park and Jinshan Recreational Resort. 
 
(3)  If your destination is Hoping Island in Keeling, you can take the Bus 101 in front of the Keeling Train Station.  If you would like to go to Lover’s Lake, you can take the Keelong City Bus505 and 509 and take off at the Lover’s Lake Intersection.  You can reach the lake on foot within thirty minutes or transfer Bus 509 (Via Maijin Road) and get off at the Lover’s Lake.
 
(4) Crown North Coast Line (One day Pass 160 NT)
The bus stops at the following spots, including: Danshui MRT station, Qianshuiwan Bay, Sanzhi Visitor Center and Gallery, Baishawan Bay and North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, New Temple of Eighteen Deities and Shimen Wedding Gown Square, Shimen Stone Arch, Yun Garden,Zhuming Museum of Fine Arts,   Jinshan (Old Street), Jinshan Visitor Center (Shitoushan Park), Jitouli Village (Hotspring area), Yeliu GEO Park, and Guihou Fishing Harbor.
 
(5) Keelong Dragon Palace West Coast Line (One Day Pass 50 NT)
The bus goes to the following scenic spots, including:  Keelong Train Station Visitor Center Lover’s Lake Park, Dawulun Sightseeing Park, Feicuiwan Bay, Guihou Fishing Harbor,and Yeliu GEO Park.
 
3. Traffic jam areas and advised travel itineraries
 
(1) North Coast Shore and adjacent roads
A. Heading Danshui:
It is often congested in Hongshuilin and Zhuway area on Taiwan 2 Highway, especially on the way back to Taipei in the afternoon when visitors are heading back to town.
B. Keelong and Wanli area:
The road between Dawulun and Wanli is very curvy and it is also the only route that leads to Yeliu scenic spot.  The traffic jam backup is often seen.
C. Taiwan 2 Highway A (Yangjin Highway)
If the Yangmingshan National Park does not carry out the traffic control, it is advised to take this road as alternative.
D.  Yeliu and neighboring area:
Owing that the roads are narrow and winding, the traffic jams often occur. Please cooperate with the traffic police and follow the guidance.
 
(2) Guanyinshan Mountain and adjacent roads:
A.  The intersection of the county road 103 (Chenglu Bridge) and Country road 107 (Chengtai Road Section III) meet the traffic flow from Wugu Highway Interchange and vehicles from Bali and Danshui.  Heavy traffic backup is often seen.
B. County Road 103(Chengtai Road Section IV)and Guandu Bridge
The main road leads to Beitou, Bali, Danshui, and the North Coast Shore and the traffic jam often occurs blocking the way to Shizitou of Wugu District and Longxing area of Bali District.
 
4. Preparations and suggestions
(1) Listen to the traffic information on the radio and notice the instant traffic report to stay away the congested roads.  Pay attention to the weather condition updates.
(2) Take away garbage to make the environment clean.
(3) Manage the accommodation in advance.
(4) Please check your cars before you set off, including cooling water, battery water, windshield water, oil, power steering wheel oil, break oil, tire pressure, and lights, and make sure that you drive safely. Alarming triangle signs are also helpful when in need.
(5) Do not drive when you drink.
 
5. Scenic spots in North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area
(1) Scenic Spots on the North Coast Shore:
Shanzhi Qianshuiwan Bay, Shanzhi Visitor Center and Gallery, Shimen Baishawan Bay, Wedding Gown Square, Fuguijiao Trail and Light House, Fuji Fishing Harbor, Stone Arch, Fagushan, Zhuming Fine Arts Museum, Shitonshan Park, Jinshan Old Street, Jinshan Hot Spring Area, Yeliu Geographical Park, Ocean World, Feicuiwan Bay, Guihou Fishing Harbor, Keeling Lover’s Lake, Huhai Bay, and Hoping Island.
(2) Scenic Spots in the Guanyinshan Mountain:
Forest Trail, Lingyun Temple, Yinghan Hill, Fulong Mountain, Fenguidou Lake, Niugangling, Niuliaopu Trail.
