To enhance the quality of nighttime recreation on the North Coast and promote local night tourism, the Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters has officially activated the new nighttime lighting environment at the Baisha Bay Visitor Center as of September 19. With the Mid-Autumn Festival—the first major holiday of autumn—approaching, the Headquarters invites the public to visit Baisha Bay and enjoy a refined nighttime experience where the sound of the waves, moonlight, and starry ocean-themed light projections come together in harmony.
The new nighttime lighting design at the Baisha Bay Visitor Center moves away from the conventional approach of high-intensity illumination, placing low-carbon, environmentally friendly design at its core. Low-angle guide lighting and energy-efficient LED technology create an immersive starry sky across the ceiling and projections of marine ecosystems beneath visitors’ feet. The design not only protects the North Coast’s precious, naturally dark skies from light pollution, but also provides visitors strolling at night with gentle, unobtrusive lighting that allows them to navigate safely.
The Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters explained: “Baisha Bay is known for its distinctive shell sand and rich marine ecology. This starry-sky and ocean-themed light projection environment is designed to create a low-carbon nighttime space where visitors can enjoy the coast elegantly without disturbing nature. With the Mid-Autumn Festival just around the corner, families and friends are recommended take a trip to the North Coast in addition to gathering for a meal. Here, they will be able to enjoy the brilliant blue sea during the day; watch the sun sink into the ocean at dusk; and listen to the waves and admire the moon beneath the starry-sky and ocean-themed light projections at the Baisha Bay Visitor Center after dark. Moreover, they will be able to Experience the North Coast’s unique blend of romance and understated elegance. Baisha Bay is set to become a new favorite spot for nighttime breezes, seaside relaxation, and social media check-ins.”
The nighttime lighting at the Baisha Bay Visitor Center will be illuminated daily from sunset until 8:00 p.m. The Northguan Scenic Area Headquarters reminds visitors to cherish the beautiful coastal environment while enjoying an evening stroll and moon viewing during the Mid-Autumn Festival. By ensuring that all garbage is disposed of properly and leaving no litter behind, everyone can help make the North Coast a high-quality, sustainable tourism destination.
