The Executive Yuan has recently been promoting “salute to the sea” policies to encourage people to learn, get close to, and immerse in oceans. The North Coast is a popular oceanic tourist area in Taiwan, and to improve visitors’ safety by the sea, the Administration held the 2021 Water Safety & Lifesaving Training and Practices, at 10am on April April at Baisha Bay.
Senior coach Lin Rui-an gave lectures and instructed the attendants about coastal environments, ocean safety, non-powered and powered boat rescue, and first-aid. Lin and his team demonstrated how to save drowned people with lifesaving facilities such as powered boats, and invited ocean patrol, firefighting, and other relevant groups to take part. Lin hopes that such a collaborative network can enhance lifesavers’ abilities in an emergency. With effort made from both the government and private groups, the Administration hopes to provide visitors with a safe and comfortable oceanic travel environment.
