Dawulun Cannons

Dawulun Cannons near Lovers’ Lake Park at the top of Dawulun Mountain is a vantage point on way through Jinshan to Keelung from Tamsui. It also overlooks Masu Creek and the nearby sea. Both a land and a marine defense point, it is among the most important old cannons of Keelung.

The parking space here is perfect for watching stars. It is not far from downtown Keelung and can be easily reached. Also, it is less light polluted and in relatively higher place. When the weather is good, one can expect to watch a full sky of stars here. This is a secret base for fans of stars and photography.

Fun Facts

The provincial historic site was located on Tawulun Mountain. Located 231 meters above sea level, the fort looks down to Lovers Lake to the west, Dawulun Bay to the north, Keelung and East Sea to the east. Walking up on a pebble footpath full of falling leaves, one will see the original structure of the fort, chassis, mechanical belt and storage room.

Traffic Info

Public transportation:

  1. Take Keelung bus 505 to Qingrenhu Rd. bus stop; follow Lane 208 of Jijin 1st Rd.; it's about 40 min. by foot.
  2. Take Keelung bus 509 to Lovers Lake bus stop; walk across the street to the park area.

Driving:

  • Badu by the highway interchange, along the highway to Mackin Jinshan direction of the front row, connected fund Highway (Provincial Highway No. 2) continued line, through next stop sign outside Laos has a fork in the road, all the way to the Fund, Lane 208, whereby road entrance to the Valentine Lake trails.
