Shimen Wind Power Station (Shimen Windmill Park)

Shimen is not only blessed with rich marine resources. Its special geological landscape makes it suitable for developing wind power. Walking towards the 18 Lords Temple, one can easily find several large windmills standing at mountain top in the far distance. That is Shimen Windmill Park operated by TaiPower, also Taiwan’s first such mechanical installations.

Hailed as the Cape of Good Hope of the North Coast, Shimen Windmill Park is highly popular among photo-taking tourists. Its six windmills in red and white look simply lovely. Many like to take a walk along the park’s trail to appreciate the mills and the deep blue ocean. Every year, when wild lilies bloom, the snow-white flowers turn the park into a romantic place.

Fun Facts

There are six windmills in the park. The windmills here are brightly painted in red and white colors. The wooden path is made for sight-seeing and walking. The wide view of rocky and sandy beaches alongside the coastal highway and the mountains can be seen here.
