Lingyun Zen Temple

Audio Guide

Built by Master Baohai in 1909, two years before the birth of the Republic of China, Linyun Temple worships the country’s largest “Guanyin” statue with a thousand hands and eyes. The temple’s building style is a combination of the east and the west. Leaning against steep mountains, the temple is characterized by volcanic views at its back. The mountains there look like flying eagles - a truly magnificent scene.

On the other hand, the temple’s front view is rather delicate, featuring expanding hills and lush green trees. Overall, it looks like a classical Chinese painting. In fact, a number of old martial arts films were shot on location here. And in the summer, the continuous singing of bugs and birds can be enjoyed here, making this place ideal for staying away from the heat. On a sunny day, one can even spot crested serpent eagles flying in the sky.

Fun Facts

Located on the mid-hill of Guanyinshan, the Lingyun Zen Temple has been refurbished for its magnificent European look today.
