Zhongjiao Bay Visitor Center

Zhongjiao Bay, located at 39K of Provincial Highway 2, features a cup-shaped sand bay and high waves pushed by year-round north winds. It is thus known as a surfers’ paradise at the North Coast. On weekends and holidays, people gather up here to chase winds and waves, creating a beautiful, one-and-only surfing scene.
To improve Zhongjiao Bay’s surfing conditions and to promote tourism at the North Coast, the Administration inaugurated Zhongjiao Bay International Surfing Base on December 22, 2019. Premier Su Tseng-chang attended the inauguration ceremony and said that he looked forward to seeing Zhongjiao Bay become a sanctuary for the world’s surfers. Since surfing was listed as one of the five new sports for competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Su even noted that he hoped Zhongjiao Elementary School and Jinshan Senior High School could cultivate young surfers. Perhaps in the near future these talents can win medals for Taiwan on the global stage.
