Surrounded by mountains and the sea, Shimen is known for its breathtaking views and inter-tidal beings, and is thus an ideal place for recreational activities and learning about the ecology of northern Taiwan. With the various spots well-known for stunning views, including Shimen Arch, Linshanbi, Baisha Bay (Baishawan), Laomei Green Reefs, Chashan Trails, Qingshan Waterfall, and the hilly areas, Shimen is now one of the most frequently visited places in northern Taiwan.
Aside from the magnificent natural sceneries, many of the local specialties are unique and delicious, including rice dumplings, alga jelly, seafood stew, and Tieguanyin tea.
When you visit Shimen, make sure not to miss Fuji Fishing Harbor, one of the best places to taste fresh seafood in northern Taiwan. Visitors can pick live seafood at the vending stalls and have it cooked by the local restaurant chefs. Enjoy the seafood and the scenery at the same time.
