Lingyun Temple

Audio Guide

Linyun Temple of Kaishan is the oldest of its kind in Guanyinshan. The main hall is built with Guanyinshan stones and its roof are made with traditional red tiles. The asymmetrical “horse-back” design is one unique feature. The temple’s Feng Shui is excellent: on its left is the “blue dragon” and on its right is the “white tiger.” Both its front and back are supported and protected. The temple also houses a collection of old inscriptions which exude nostalgic charm.

The temple is engrossed in clouds and mists in March. To watch eagles, one has to go to a mid-hill area at this time of a year, and one such place is Linyun Temple. Here, you can find raptors flying low. Because the trees are tall here, you may also easily spot collared scops owls. This makes the temple ideal for carrying out night-time avian observations.
