“Le Square” is the first themed restaurant in Keelung City that combines the building block game area with the city’s harbor cultural features. The large-scale work “Flag of Prosperity at Le Square” made of “60,000” building blocks is based on the early culture of offering “large fishing flags”when new fishing boats were launched into the water. The five representative seafoods of Keelung painted in the “Ukiyoe” painting style are displayed on the flag, which not only shows Keelung's rich products, but also symbolizes a prosperous harvest with the joint efforts of everyone.
The design of the restaurant is based on the “bridge cranes and slings” along the harbor skyline, with the three piers of “building blocks,” “catering” and “art” simultaneously placed in the space to bring joy to the body and mind.
“Building Blocks Pier”: combines family leisure and building block games to give the harbor city a diverse and lively look.
“Catering Pier”: ecological catering chef Chang Cheng-chong was hired to design the work based on “the harbor as a gathering place of world cultures,” together with a sustainable dining style of “local eating, history and culture of eating.”
“Art Pier”: the first curated exhibition “Seaman's Paintbrush” invites Keelung fisherman artist Chuang Ying-hsin to express his inner world living in the area for many years with a brush. Chuang modestly refers to the piece as created in his leisure time, but the highly personal creations and the brushstrokes full of marine vitality are visually imposing and directly touch the viewer’s heart, making people stop, unforgettable, and keep looking back.
In recent years, regional revitalization has gradually becoming mainstream, but it cannot be reduced to a slogan. In the future, this site will attract young partners from various industries in Keelung, showcasing the vitality of local residents and gather more aspiring young people to work with us, continue Keelung’s once proud and prosperous reputation as the “Head of Taiwan” and “take action” for Keelung for which they have such great passion.
