Naming - local history
“TUMAN” was originally the name of “Peace Island” given by the Basai Indigenous people, which also means Island of Witches.
The Chinese characters that make up the name include 圖 (meaning picture) and 們(meaning group of people). The character圖 is used in the phrases such as “pictures and text, pictures, images,” the character 們 is used in phrases such as “we, you, them, Tuman.”
Tuman Café style – refers to a regional symbol “reshaping non-industrial style” with “a highly modern and trendy industrial style”
Brainstorm ideas by making use of “old” elements by utilizing shipbuilding hardware.
Elements used: navy ship canvas, fishing boat lamps, early antique hardware, soft metallic style, brass etc. creating a retro feel.
Products – with regional characteristics, limited and only available in Keelung.
Hand-made “Gigura” (ちくわ) used in dishes - recommend dish is the house “Special Tumen Waterless Curry.”
