“Ali Bangbang” means “flying fish” in the
aboriginal Dawu language. Every spring, flying fish swim north along the Kuroshio. In May,
they swim to the northeastern cape of Keelung
and lay eggs when local fishermen begin the
work of “not catching fish but only collecting
fish roe.” The flying fish roe from the
northeastern cape is the best in the world with
the eggs known as “golden roe.” “Ali Bangbang”
hopes to become a flying fish roe gourmet chef,
combining it with local ingredients that speak to
a dialogue between the mountains and the sea, as
they seek to satisfy the body, mind and soul of
customers.
