Heping Island Geo-Park is run by a group of local young people from Keelung, assisted by experts in environmental education, tourism, and marine studies. Their goal is to become an international-level sustainable tourism island.
The park emphasizes environmental conservation and sustainable management, earning the distinction of being the first site in Asia to receive the ISO 20121 national-level certification for scenic spots. It offers a variety of experiences including environmental education, community mini-tours, geological guides, and beach clean-up activities.
Here, visitors are not just tourists—they can gain a deep understanding of Keelung’s coastal geology and culture through interpretation and hands-on activities, embodying the philosophy that “travel is not just travel, but an opportunity to make small changes that impact a place.”
